About Gabriela Australia

Gabriela Australia is a grassroots women’s organisation dedicated to supporting migrant women and their children, particularly those affected by domestic and family violence. Founded in 1996 by migrant women of Filipino heritage, the organisation has since been actively engaged in supporting, advocating for, and organising migrant women to advance and protect their rights.

Its operations are primarily community-based and driven by volunteer groups. Gabriela Australia also manages the Domestic and Family Violence Support Program under the Welfare Mission for Migrants.

Regular activities include an art-based playgroup for children, support groups for women, ongoing volunteer program development, and practical assistance for survivors of domestic and family violence.
