VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES

The Queen Victoria Women’s Centre is home to a number of organisations that require the services of volunteers from time to time. You can find a list of the current volunteer opportunities below.

WOMEN & MENTORING

WAM supports women (which includes transgender women) and non-binary people facing criminal charges, or at risk of offending or in contact with the legal system, and who are identified as needing additional support to improve their outcomes. Women are matched individually with a supportive woman volunteer as a pathway to develop and use positive life skills.

COUNTERPART

Counterpart connects, supports and informs women with cancer to live well. Counterpart is a service of Women’s Health Victoria and has been providing support services to women living with cancer since 2003.

Counterpart will be recruiting new volunteers early 2024. They will be seeking women (cis and trans inclusive) who have had a diagnosis of cancer to provide peer support to other women experiencing a cancer diagnosis through listening, supporting and providing information. Comprehensive training (in person and online) will be provided.  Volunteers work a 4 hour shift on the phone on either a Monday, Wednesday or Thursday either from QVWC or from home with support from Counterpart staff.

Anyone interested in volunteering can learn more at www.counterpart.org.au, visit Countepart’s Seek Volunteer page or email kellie.holland@counterpart.org.au  for further information.

You can also pop into the Counterpart Resource Centre on Level 2, QVWC Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays to talk to the team and have a look around the space.
