ON WHOSE SHOULDERS I STAND, WORKS BY SUSIE RAE

On Whose Shoulders I Stand is a heartfelt homage to the overlooked women of Australian modernism, brought to life through Susie Raz’s vivid, large scale self-portraits. Each painting is also a performance, where Raz embodies the struggles and triumphs of 20th century female artists, creating an intimate dialogue across time that bridges their stories with her own.

This project sheds light on the systemic erasure of women from art history while serving as a transformative journey for Raz. By painting herself into these narratives, she claims space alongside these women, confronting and transcending her inherited self-doubt as an artist.

Exhibition opens 10 September - 9AM-5PM Monday-Friday
