Queen Victoria Women's Centre - Women's Organisation Capacity Building Program

The Women’s Organisations Capacity Building program came about during 2008-09 when the Queen Victoria Women’s Centre conducted a survey to explore the major challenges faced by women’s organisations in achieving their goals.

Forty-one women’s organisations completed the survey; each differing in their organisational structures, strengths, size, purpose, programs and activities across Melbourne and greater Victoria.

The results revealed that the top areas that women’s organisations required most assistances were around funding, operational planning, governance and communication.

Armed with this information, a three-year workshop program was developed to address these challenges, while building on the existing skills, experience and leadership of women and women’s organisations.
