Events in March
There are many events at the Centre for you to get involved in this month.
Women's Safety Seminars
QVWC is offering a range of free seminars about women's safety issues.
Navigating the City Safely - For female international students
Are you an International student, new to Melbourne? Want to learn more about how to get around the city? Not sure what to do in case of emergency? Wondering about the Australian culture of 'going out'?
Come along to QVWC, where the friendly women of Australian Federation of International Students, Victoria Police Crime Prevention Unit and City of Melbourne - City Safety Division will provide you with helpful information and answer your questions.

Accessing the City Safely - For women with mobility impairment
Victorian Women with a Disability Network present practical advice, tips and hints for accessing Melbourne's CBD smoothly and safely.
When: Thursday, 22 March; 12.15 pm for 12.30 pm start to 1.30 pm
Where: Queen Victoria Women's Centre, The Victoria Room, Level 4, 210 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne
Cost: FREE
A light lunch will be served.

There are many events for you to get involved in on International Women's Day.
Victorian Trades Hall Council - Women's Rally
Join VTHC and MC Jane Clifton for a fun and lively rally in Bourke Street Mall. Bring flags, placards, wear purple, white and green.
Speeches by: Joy Murphy, Sharan Burrow, Julia Gillard, Ann Taylor, Eloise Southby-Halbish, May Kotsakis.
When: Thursday, 8 March; 12.00 pm to 2.00 pm

International Women's Day Dinner and Show
Australian Workers Union invite you to dinner and a show at Collingwood Townhall to celebrate International Women's Day and raise funds for El Salvador, San Francisco Menendez Sewing Project.
When: Thursday, 8 March; 7.00 pm to 11.30 pm
Where: Collingwood Town Hall, 140 Hoddle Street, Collingwood
Cost: $600 for table of 10 (waged/non-AWU members); $400 for table of 10 (unwaged/AWU members)

International Women's Day - Fundraising Lunch
Join MC Tracy Bartram, Mix 101.1 FM co-host of 'Tracy and Tim for Breakfast', as she chats with special guests Sonya Davies and Manar Chelebi about their inspirational story of friendship and community building.
Our International Women's Day Fundraising Lunch is a great opportunity to take time out on a 'red letter day' for women to enjoy a light lunch, network with a fantastic group of professional women and hear from our inspirational speakers.
Funds raised go to support the establishment of the 'Women Taking Control Grant', with the aim of administering the grant annually via Victorian Women's Trust.
When: Thursday, 8 March; 12.30 pm to 2.00 pm
Where: Queen Victoria Women's Centre, The Victoria Room (level 4), 210 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne
Cost: Business/Government: $50/head Not-for-Profit: $30/head

Crybaby Hour at the Note to Herself Gallery
Bring the kiddies along and join the hundreds of women contributing to the Note to Herself exhibition.
You and your children have the chance to be part of the exhibition by making your own special artwork. The friendly staff of Riot Art and Craft will be at the Gallery to lend your mini-artist a hand, leaving you free to enjoy the Exhibition and maybe even a coffee with friends at one of the nearby cafes?!
We also have special mums' goody bags to give away.

Note to Herself Exhibition

The Note to Herself Exhibition is entering its final week - don't miss your chance to peer into

the secret lives of Victorian women!
The exhibition is free and open to the public. Join us for a special International Women's Day celebration on Thursday, 8 March at the Gallery. See the International Women's Day Celebration article for details.

Until 9 March
Tuesday to Friday: 11.00 am to 2.00 pm; 4.30 pm to 6.30 pm
Saturday: 11.00 am to 4.00 pm

International Women's Day Celebration
You're invited to celebrate International Women's Day with Queen Victoria Women's Centre.
