Rights and Access

The Disability Discrimination Act 1992 prohibits direct or indirect discrimination against a person because of a disability. The Act protects rights in the areas of: employment, education, access to premises, provision of goods and services, accommodation and much more.

The Disability Discrimination Legal Service (DDLS) offers a telephone or TTY advice service about disability discrimination and also offers face-to-face legal advice by appointment. DDLS works to promote and carry out the aims of the Disability Discrimination Act (1992) to eliminate discrimination on the basis of disability, and to see that people with disabilities receive equal treatment before the law.

Victorian Ombudsman
