Prevention and control of workplace violence research and public policy series

Although workplace violence is becoming recognised as an important issue to all employers and employees, little research has been performed about it. The Australian Institute of Criminology's Research and Public Policy series looks into the causes of violence in the workplace and makes recommendations for prevention and control. This 2005 report into women's experience of violence in the workplace found that 62.1% of Victorian women had experienced workplace violence within the past five years. The report summarises research undertaken by the Office of Women's Policy to look at women's experiences of violence in the workplace in Victoria.

Women's Safety Strategy 2002-2007

The Women's Safety Strategy was launched in October 2002 during Week Without Violence. The five-year Women's Safety Strategy is the first comprehensive strategy on violence against women by any Victorian Government for 17 years. It brings all Ministers and Government Departments together, working within a single policy framework. It was developed by the Office of Women's Policy over two years and is the result of an extensive consultation process.
