Reasonable Hours Test Case

The Australian Industrial Relations Commission (AIRC) provides a summary of the Reasonable Hours Test Case 2002. The case focused on issues raised by the trend towards longer working hours, which negatively impacts work family balance. The AIRC's decision made it possible for employees to refuse to work overtime when such work unreasonably infringed on family responsibilities.

Better Work and Family Balance Grants

Organisations can apply for grants of up to $50,000 to improve work family balance for employees. The aim of the Better Work and Family Balance Grants is for organisations to incorporate flexible work practices. These include employee choice rostering, nine-day fortnights and home-based work.
