Getting the Balance Right - Trial and Review

It’s very important to give your policy regular check-ups, once it’s in place. Include how often and when

you will perform these check-ups as part of your policy.

Check-ups for healthy family friendly policies

A thorough check-up for your organisation’s policy should include the following:

  • Revisit earlier discussions you had with colleagues and the board.

  • Consider any policies that were not adopted in the first policy plan. Is now a good time to pursue these issues?

  • Perform a quick cost/benefit analysis

  • Consider the following questions:
Are the policies still relevant to staff and organisational needs?

  • Have individual arrangements worked?

  • Have the policies been put in action evenly across the organisation?

  • Is everyone aware of the policies in place?

  • Is the information readily available?
